What to expectAt CMADE Outdoors, we provide an authentic outdoor experience at Broad Close Farm in Silkstone, Barnsley. Here, you’ll immerse yourself in the natural surroundings of a working farm. Unlike a theme park, you won’t find paved paths here. If it’s raining, expect mud; if it’s dry, expect dust. While riding a quad bike, you’ll be fully exposed to the elements, so check the weather beforehand, dress appropriately, embrace the adventure, and enjoy being close to nature. Our experiences demand physical effort. Navigating a quad bike over rugged terrain requires strength and stamina. This is not a theme park-style, easy-going ride. If you're looking for a laid-back tour, this might not be for you. For information on selecting the right adventure, appropriate clothing, and more, refer to the details below. Please ensure you read all emails from us before your adventure as they contain essential information about your session. Feel free to reach out if you have any queries. Email is the best way to contact us, as we are usually out on the farm with our guests. We are a growing business and can only take phone calls for a few hours in the evenings. Most of your questions may already be answered in the information below. 4o

I have no experience riding quad bikes, will I manage? Our electric bikes are easy to use, and with guidance from our skilled instructor, most participants pick it up within minutes. At the start of your ride, the instructor will evaluate everyone's skill level and may adjust the speed, modify the route, or select an alternative trek that better matches the group’s abilities.
-
Is it safe?At CMADE Outdoors, safety is our top priority on every trek. Before you begin, our instructor will provide a thorough safety briefing, followed by some guided practice laps to ensure everyone feels confident handling the bike. It’s crucial that children pay close attention and fully understand the instructions—this is essential for their safety! Throughout the trek, your group will be guided by an experienced instructor who will lead the way, offering tips on navigating obstacles and ready to assist whenever needed. All of our instructors are skilled quad riders and certified in first aid, with a first-aid kit always on hand. The route will be adapted to suit the abilities of the least experienced rider, ensuring a comfortable and safe experience for everyone in the group.

What should I wear?We suggest wearing athletic clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Sturdy shoes or boots are a must—no open-toed footwear like sandals or flip-flops. Shorts and a t-shirt are perfectly fine in warm weather. Helmets will be provided. When it's cold, we recommend dressing in layers and wearing boots. Wellington boots work well for quad biking. Don’t forget a pair of warm gloves. Layers are preferable to one bulky jacket, as you need full mobility to handle the bike safely. Since quad biking is an outdoor activity, we operate in all weather conditions—it’s even more fun when it’s muddy! If it’s wet, we can offer overalls depending upon availability and sizes required. You’re also welcome to bring your own waterproof gear. Just be prepared to get muddy—the ground can stay wet and muddy for several days after rain.
-
How do I pay?Booking your ride through our website is quick and straightforward. The system is designed to be user-friendly. Please note that we do not process payments over the phone. Simply click the 'Book Here' button, select your preferred package, date, time, and the number of participants, then follow the steps provided. Be sure to review all the details to ensure both you and we have everything needed for a successful session. Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your slot. We do not accept partial payments.

What if it rains? At CMADE Outdoors, we run our adventures on a working farm, and thanks to the unpredictable British weather, things can get wet and muddy. Quad biking is an outdoor experience, and we believe it’s even more thrilling in those muddy, wet conditions. That’s why we operate rain or shine. For your comfort, we can provide waterproof gear if needed. Remember, "there’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing!" That said, we do monitor the weather closely each evening, and if we feel conditions are unsafe for riding, we may have to cancel. In this case, you’ll have the option to reschedule at no extra cost or request a refund.
